February 2010
43. The magic number is 43. As of today, Feb. 16, April 1 is 43 days away. Will winter let go early enough that boats can be prepared for a spring launch? While we wait, the opportunity to enjoy some food and see friends awaits once again this coming weekend at Clancy’s. It was good in January to see everyone that was able to attend the monthly meeting. So join us once again at noon. Clancy’s is on the south outer road of I-70 in Blue Springs just a little bit west of Hwy. 7.
· From the treasurer, Lonna Smittle: o There is an account balance of $203.50 from dues and other monies collected. o Dues are $50 this year. To pay your dues, make checks payable to Jacomo Cruiser Fleet and mail to JCFYC Treasurer: Lonna Smittle 3309 S. Hocker Ave. Independence, MO 64055-2502
· Don’t forget to pay your mooring and dry sail fees by the end of February!!!
· There is a need for a volunteer to coordinate the cove maintenance. As you all know, how nice the area around the shelter house looks depends on us. With at least 5-6 people (and weed eaters), this can be taken care of in an hour or less. Please let one of the officers know if you would be willing to coordinate the monthly cleanup efforts. This usually takes place on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
· We need hosts for the cove parties. Please consider hosting and let us know this Saturday. And the August party will once again be a breakfast party.
· Pig Roast….still looking at having it in June. Volunteers are needed to serve on the Pig Roast committee.
· Are you up for a Spring Race? If there is enough interest then this could be added to the calendar.
As always, please be checking the Jacomo Cruiser Fleet website at www.jacomocruiserfleet.com for updated information and pictures. And if you have pictures, send them to Neal Smith.
The meeting in March will be at the cove on March 20th at 1:00 pm. Don’t forget to bring your socks for the annual Burning of the Socks!
